'It is magical to find people with such passion'

Another busy week ends with some happy thoughts...

Thank you so much for taking me on a visit to the school. I am a teacher and I congratulate you for your work in schools. Information is power and education is the future.
Eva

In the world we live, it is always special to meet people so generous that they devote their lives to making the world a bit fairer. Working with children is synonymous with working on the future of an entire country. As a teacher, I believe in the power of education to go change the world.
Also, thank you very much for this welcome, we felt very comfortable during the visit.
Geny

Because there are generous people like you in this world, countries like India are getting a better future. As a kindergarten teacher, I found the nursery centres very interesting, as the first step for a good education starts with little children. Thank you.
Raquel

Very interesting project, great team and great job! My most sincere congratulations.
Mireia

Congratulations for all the work you are doing! I hope that it all goes better. A kiss.
Belén

I really enjoyed the opportunity to see the projects and the great work you are doing. Many spirits and good luck for the path you have taken.
Muriel

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to see with our own eyes all the work you are doing. Thank you for that talk with Jaume.
Mª José and Katarina

I'm going home with good memories. I could see firsthand a harsh reality in one of the toughest cities in India. Luckily, there are people like you who fight for a better life for the poorest. Good luck!
Griselda

Congratulations on all that Jaume Sanllorente has created with heart and passion. A big hug.
Today was one of the most rewarding days of my trip. It was a pleasure to see your projects in this city. It is magical to find people with such passion. Thank you very much to the team and good luck.

The reward is always lots of smiles''

A happy end to our week...

Continue as before, we are very impressed! Thank you very much for showing us a bit of how much you do.
Familia Casillas

Good job!
Mónica

It was an unforgettable experience. And it is always worth it to keep fighting. The reward is always lots of smiles.
Lourdes

I’ve know about the NGO and the person who founded it for a few years. The story of its creation fills me with hope and positive energy. It’s the optimism and kindness of someone who wanted to give up everything for a lot of smiles. Your work with Mumbai Smiles and this book opens the door to hope and another reality. Good luck, great strength and positive energy.
Laia, a hug from Sitges

This trip has opened my mind, senses and heart and, to top it off, getting to know more of your work has been a pleasure. I really feel fortunate to be a grain of your sand. People like you deserve believe that another world is possible. Thank you!
Dalina

I loved the book Bombay Smiles: The Trip that Changed my Life, and now that I've seen these things, I am very happy. May God bless you and fill you with courage to continue moving forward. Thank you very much for everything.
With love,
Maite

This trip has given me the opportunity to learn how so many Indian families live, and it made me think how lucky I am to live where I do. It's amazing, the work you have done. Thank you very much for everything.
Laia

Because of the sum of small things, people can move mountains and societies.
Ana, Anna and Sergi

Health and strength!
Cristina, Joan, Mireia, Mireia

My first contact with India and Mumbai has been a good experience. Thanks for showing us another side to this monstrous and mysterious city, thanks for showing us the tenderness in the midst of the aggression. It is clear that to reach the essence of things is to go a little further and be very brave. Thank you for everything you do. You can count on more support.
A kiss,
Ana

As a newcomer, the first impression of Mumbai hits you hard. But it was comforting to see the working you are doing to help these children cope in this society. Thank you for your welcome.
Marc

Thank you very much for sharing this experience with us and helping us understand India a little better. We will be in touch.

'Miracles are possible...'

Thanks to all of you for your support!

I’m glad I had the opportunity to learn about what you do at Mumbai Smiles. A couple of years ago, I read Jaume Sanllorente’s book and I was shocked at the world he had described, and I believed everything he said. Now I can see that miracles – if you work hard – are possible. I want to work with you in some way in Barcelona.
Josep

It is gratifying and reassuring to see that in all parts of the world there are people who care for others. Thank you for your work and continue collecting smiles.
Anna, Mima, Gloria and Gloria.

Courage to you!
Álvaro

Thank you very much for the welcome you gave us. These children are lucky to have people like you. I will be eternally grateful.
Leire

Although I had visited North India last year, I wanted to visit a school and see for myself the reality of children who are happy. I like the vision that Mumbai Smiles has and the work you are doing to assist in the health and education of children.
Carmen

I was very interested to know more about Mumbai Smiles. I think, with everyone’s help, you will be successful and obtain happiness for all! You shall not lack in smiles.
Samson

Congratulations for all the work you are doing. Keep at it for a long time. Continue your work in Barcelona too.
Silvia

Thanks for making me see that dreams can come true.
Núria

Keep spreading smiles as usual. You have made me smile even more by demonstrating that change is possible and that there are still plenty of people willing to give everything and more to bring about a fairer world. Thanks.
Clara

'You have a true understanding of the reality of Mumbai'

It's your encouragement that keeps us going! Thank you all!

I realise this work is only about cooperation but there are many more aspects to consider, patience, listening, companionship, understanding, courage, wisdom, etc. I realised this in the slum and the school today. I had this experience thanks to Mumbai Smiles. A hug.
Jordi

If I was already impressed with this new country I had the chance to visit, these days in Mumbai and with this great organisation have been no less. What surprised me most was the way it functions according to its principles and philosophy, with clear guidelines and a true understanding of the reality and the social context of Mumbai.
From what I have seen the projects are governed by principles as simple as the right to make decisions in the exercise of freedom and, in the words of its director, the right to development. The concept, management and development of their projects have my deepest admiration.
I thank you for your contribution and what you are doing, every day, to make this a better world and I encourage you to continue this difficult but worthy task.
Jahir

Thank you, Mumbai Smiles, for teaching us that small things can make a big difference. Thanks for letting us recover the human values we thought were lost. And, finally, thank you for reminding us that the surest bet are the people.
Estibaliz

We took a bit of Mumbai Smiles in our hearts. Thank you for this gift. We are glad to see that you have not lost your strength and courage. It was a real pleasure to get to know you.
Jorge

'Where there is light, there is always hope...'

We end another busy week with some lovely comments from our visitors. Have a good weekend!

It was wonderful to be here with you. Jaume transmits calmness and a kindness that touches the heart and no one can be indifferent to it. I hope everyone who comes here is a partner and collaborates and takes with himself or herself the magic and a desire to improve the world, to be a better person, to smile and help like Mumbai Smiles. Nehal is very nice and the whole team is wonderful. I've loved the projects.
Susanna

I noticed a strong inner light that comes from Mumbai Smiles. Where there is light, there is always hope and I'm sure that Mumbai Smiles will go a long way in Mumbai. I will always keep in touch and thank you very much for sharing your joy with me. You are great! Thanks.
Carmen

I came to know of you through a friend and started reading about your projects online and yesterday I could see your work. To look into the eyes of these kids that are full of hope to have a better future and to change the future of the country. It is the best gift that I am taking with me in my heart.
Susana

Your work is very interesting and organised. Thank you for the visit. It was a good experience. Congratulations and keep it up.

'We will carry this in our hearts forever'

It's Friday and time to share some of our visitors thoughts with you...

On behalf of all of us who are a part of Camino al Sur (a Moroccan NGO), we thank you for your welcome, and your work in areas of health, education and awareness that are essential pillars in a civilised society where human rights cannot cease to exist. Thank you for dedicating your time to show us how it works.
We hope to see many smiles in the future.

It is so difficult! I have no words to express the feelings that fill me after my trip to India and especially the last two days spent with in Mumbai Smiles. I do not know how to thank you for allowing me to see your projects. I can never forget your generosity and your smiles. Thanks and see you soon!
Ana

We greatly appreciate the hospitality with which we have been received by the people, the office staff, driver, workers, teachers, the principal of the school...

'How little it costs to make others happy...'

We end this week with word of encouragement from our visitors! See you Monday!

I was already amazed with what I had read and heard about you. Now that I have seen your work so closely, I know that one can do wonderful things with only one good idea that comes from heart.
Eva

I had visited Mumbai Smiles two years ago and I am happy that it has continued to grow and gets bigger and bigger every day. It is said that the not all journeys have a destination but the point is to help others in all possible ways. This time, the greetings go to Jaume and his whole team. Congratulations and keep it up.
Jordi

How little it costs to make others happy! With people like you it is clear that the world is a much better place. It is rewarding and an education to see the smiles of school kids. There is so much to learn from them! I hope this is just the beginning of your great project. Good luck and congratulations!
Maite

Finally I have come to Mumbai to see the projects! It is nice to see in person the evolution/progress of a desire that came from the heart. I will stand by you whenever you need me.
Belén

Thank you so much for sharing with us a small part of your life and work. Keep working with this enthusiasm and spirit.
Clara and Miren

Congratulations for your fantastic work. We are very grateful to you for sharing your work with us. Thanks a lot and keep it up.
Juliette, Albert, Glòria

Congratulations! Thank you so much for this day and for showing us a bit of your work here. I wish that you keep growing and make many more people happy. We encourage and support you and hope you continue to have this level of energy and excitement.
Xavi and Ruth

It is not just a smile or a laugh, it is much more than that. It is to give hope where there is none, it is to lead a life with dignity above all suffering. No religion or politics is capable of securing a smile in this way. The fight begins, continues and is eternal for all mankind. Congratulations on this project and I support everybody who is fighting with this spirit.
Lidia

Nehal, thank you for your kindness, patience and your smile. We’ve been to places we never imagined we would, and we could learn a bit of authentic Mumbai. We will keep you in our hearts and hope to return someday to see the progress of this great work you are doing! Keep it up!
Marc and Rocio

Thanks a lot for your patience and continuous effort. It is a wonderful experience to see the projects becoming a reality. My friend, who is your follower and collaborator, would have liked to be here. I promise to tell her my experience.

Catching them young :)

Last week, we had the cutest visitors come by our office. Nine-year-old Marc and his six-year-old brother Roger faithfully tagged along with their wonderful parents to see our projects.
The kids were fun and curious as kids naturally are and we think it's great that they are getting exposed to many things in the world at such a young age...

Here they are at Yashodhan school, where they met kids their own age...

Here's to more cross-cultural bonding, and come back soon, guys!

'India is a canvas and its people are the colours'

Another week goes by and more goodwill for us :)

After spending a month living in Mumbai, working in microcredit, I conclude my journey at Mumbai Smiles. If there’s anything I have learned in this time, it is that India is a canvas and its people are the colours. The setting is wonderful and almost perfect if we include joy, hope and smiles. Thank you for letting us visit you, and hopefully we can come back soon.
Ana

After reading your book, and having been in Mumbai for a month, trying to feel the life in the slums, it has been an open window that can never be closed! Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
Lola

Thank you so much for hosting us. I am so glad to see the smiles of the children and you are doing a great job. I am sure you are making a great difference in their lives and I hope this will eventually help alleviate poverty in India.Thank you again and I hope Mumbai Smiles continues to grow and give opportunities to more children.
Minjoo

Since we arrived in Mumbai a month ago, we knew that, without a doubt, we would visit Mumbai Smiles. We can say that a trip to India makes you grow as a person and opens your eyes. Thank you for showing us your projects, thank you for making possible the dreams of many children, thank you for facing reality and thanks for spreading a message so beautiful and full of hope.
Beatriz and Isabel

Thank you so much for the great work that you are doing. I wish you good luck, health and energy so that you continue to spread smiles in Mumbai. Congratulations!
Ines, Ana, Nani

I find the project incredible; the initiative to offer a better future to children and to use education to address issues and allow people to live in a more dignified manner.
Paula

Congratulations on your project. I wish you good luck. Everything becomes easy with a smile on the face.
Estefan

You are doing an amazing job and it’s great to see the kids so content and excited. My father had already told me about the organisation and Jaume. And now that I am finally here, I have seen the magnitude of work. Thank you so much.
Pere Arch and Santi Morera

I wish to congratulate you on your work. I was surprised to see the growth of your organisation that is still so young! My most sincere congratulations to you. I am very pleased that we are also somehow linked through Creative Handicrafts. It’s a pleasure to have shared with you this morning. I thank you for your attention and I hope you continue to execute these promising projects.

'Thanks for teaching us how to be better people'

We go off to enjoy our weekend with some happy thoughts from our visitors...

Thank you for the work you do in India. It is a country with lots of inequalities and only local aid is not sufficient for its progress; it requires international support. The families you are helping will be grateful to you as much as I am. Keep doing such important work. I wish you a lot of strength, love and encouragement.
Luis

We are taking home with us the smiles that you have gifted us and leave a small part for you too. Thank you so much and good luck for your future.
Rodrigo and Nayana

The more smiles you give, the more smiles you get. Here we have found the first Indian smiles, some truly simple and real good SMILES! Thanks for your time, for the hospitality and for teaching us how to be better people and to value every moment, every second and every smile. We will try to in practise it in our daily lives.
Nuria and Carles

You are doing lovely work in this country because the most important thing is to give a good education to all children and to direct them towards a better life.
Jessica

All the best for the work you do every day. Your work is growing at a lightning pace. I wish that you continue to advance and expand your projects in this fight against poverty in Mumbai.
Marta

It's been a pleasure to be on this visit to see your everyday work. Congratulations on the work you are undertaking for the kids. I am sure that it will give good results and improve their situation. All the best and keep it up.
Paula and Montse

Seeing the smiles, in person, to observe how these smiles will form a new India, and to realize that this is because of your day-to-day work make us happy.
Aida and Jordi

All the best for the project! It's important to fight for what you believe in.

'Mumbai is a large and magnetic city'

It's Friday and it's time to share our visitors' feedback again. Enjoy!

Thank you very much for a wonderful visit. The name of the organisation makes sense when you see the faces of the children. Mumbai is a large, magnetic city, thanks to the kindhearted people and the hope that can be seen on their faces. You fill a gap in society so that people can continue to grow in the future. Thank you very much, and I will follow your work closely. There are many people supporting you.
Ana

When I discovered Mumbai Smiles on television, I imagined the wonderful people taking care of others and what has surprised me most was that it is completely true. We've all heard on countless occasions that India is a country that changes you deeply and now when I've finally come, I have seen and understood. But very few people have the courage to leave everything and come here and start working for the needy people instead of crying and suffering looking at their condition. Hence, thank you very much. It's amazing what you have accomplished in so little time and I'm sure it will be a project that will run for a long time and get many more smiles.
María

What shines the most in the world and in this city is the smiles of children… pure and contagious smiles that we have got from the children we visited. Thank you very much for making this possible. We wish you all the luck to go on making this city, this country and this world a place full of smiles.

'You know how to put smiles on children's faces'

As always, we had some lovely visitors who had wonderful things to say about our work:

We came here with high expectations to see Mumbai Smiles and meet Jaume, and the experience was not at all disappointing. In fact, it was quite the contrary. You know how to put smiles on the faces of the kids in Mumbai, and those who visit you projects and we learned something from you. Monica and Jaume are very kind, and Nehal is a great guide and host. Thank you very much for your time. Keep it up.
Sonia and Carlos

When we planned our trip to India, we were sure that Mumbai Smiles would be one of our final stops. This was a good choice and our expectations have been met. We congratulate you on the work you carry out from the time Jaume decided to come to Mumbai and start this efficient and useful organisation. Thank you very much for your welcome.
Ana, Natalia, Silvia

I always wanted to know more about an organisation like this, especially outside Spain. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to see your work. I've been a student of social work, but did not pursue it as I was frustrated by the bureaucratic work. Thank you very much again for this opportunity and congratulations on making a better world.

'The seeds you have sown are strong'

Another busy week and here's what our visitors had to say:

My dream is reflected in your work. I wish you all the best in this wonderful journey of life.
Maria del Carmen

I can only thank you for delivering hope with your work and letting us be a part of it, though it was “only” a few smiles. To see these projects grow and see their excellent results gives us a boost and the energy to make a better world.
Samuel

Sometimes it is not enough to say thanks and congratulations. This is one such occasion. The work that you are doing is incredible and serves as a motivation to many people, including me. May your work enlighten the path of people who are following you. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
David

SMILES, SMILES & MORE SMILES! Because the person who cannot laugh cannot be happy either! I met Jaume Sanllorente in an interesting conference at Palacio de Congresos in Madrid two years ago and since then, I have been waiting to come to Bombay and visit the amazing project that he started and now it is supported by so many charming, sweet and adorable Indians like Nehal who received us and treated us in an excellent manner during the visit.. It’s my first but definitely not the last visit to Mumbai Smiles. I WILL SEE YOU SOON.
Leticia

Curiosity killed the cat, they say. But it is also the basis for education. That is what we saw this morning in the school. Curiosity in the first few days of a new course, curiosity about our presence, curiosity about the lessons they were going to learn . Curiosity, curiosity, curiosity.

Thank you (Mumbai Smiles) and thank you (Nehal) for the visits, for your work and your smile. I will definitely take this back home.
Josep

A great opportunity to see the work you do as well as the opportunity you offer these children. I hope your current and future projects have a great reception and eventaually become self-sufficient. Good luck for your work and keep up your daily effort to achieve equality of opportunity.
Aurora

Today was a great day. The school was a beautiful one in the most beautiful of places. I was very impressed to see how well the school was being run and I hope that it continues to do well.
Theo

You have a long way to go but the seeds that you have sown are strong and long-lasting. Never stop supporting HUMANITY in order to make a world full of love.
Thanks a lot for the visit.
Sonia

It has been an enriching and emotional experience to see that there are people who are working for the equality of men, people who collaborate in social projects and that they are winning the smiles of many children. Congratulations!
Eva

It was a great experience. We are pleased to see that the projects have become a reality. The work in the school is great because it is the future, and in this future I hope and pray that you succeed in all that you want. The school is already done, and now it requires support and perseverance in these projects.
My sincere congratulations for the results achieved and for the work done.
Ibrahim

Thank you very much for letting us all come & see your school. It was a really nice visit and I was surprised to see it in such good condition. The teachers' equipment and facilities were in a really good state, thanks to the donations. I really hope it continues to improve. Thank you very much.
Barnaby

I came to see something different and to gain a greater insight into Indian society. I am glad to say I have not been disappointed! Having read the Mumbai Smiles literature, I have a better understanding of the magnitude of the problems facing Mumbai and applaud your efforts.

'This has been enriching and instructive'

The end to an eventful week with some lovely words of encouragement.

Thank you for giving us this opportunity to know your projects. We are amazed at how you started and have managed to carry on such important activities with joy and ‘smiles’. We hope that we will be able to do our bit in our daily life too. We wish you and your children all the best.
Tecla & Alessandro
I liked everything a lot. I learnt a lot like about leprosy, what it is, how it spreads. I am amazed by the work you are doing for the kids. I am really happy to have met you and I hope that all your future projects go very well.
Irene

You are doing a great job. This has been a very enriching experience and also instructive. I like the ideas you have while still staying grounded. Wonderful work. Keep it up.
Pascual

I really like your commitment to education from a tender age as education is a driving force of change. Good job!
Marisa

Congratulations on your work. Many people need you, never forget whom you are working for. Your inspiration will help you to achieve your goals. Keep working and you will receive great support.

'One who saves a life, saves the world'

The week ends with more encouragement and support from our visitors. Thank you all!

I am very grateful to you for giving me this opportunity to see your projects up close. Thank you for your welcome. I wish you all the best for your projects and hope that you achieve all your goals, and that we all can collaborate with you even in a small way. All the seeds that you have been sowing are bearing fruits now.
Wish you all the luck and keep it up! I wish that all your work brings more smiles. Keep doing such wonderful things and never lose hope. Thank you for helping to make this world a better place.
Maria

I feel fortunate to be able to come here and see the projects. I am proud that the small dreams we have nurtured in our homes are turned into a reality here. One leaves from here knowing that something really important is going on and that it is necessary to spread this message in the world. The people who have already visited you, the ones who are yet to visit, and I, must not lose hope and must never get tired of spreading this message.
Thank you very much.
Jordi

I am pleased to personally come here and see the projects that are going on (and the ones that will be initiated). It is really good! You are very brave, strong and different to do work like this. We are happy to be able to contribute in a small way to your great projects.
Montse and Joaquim

A smile is the shortest distance between the two people. Thank you for bringing out so many smiles and for making into reality the biggest challenge of the 21st century, an attempt to end poverty. One who saves a life, saves the world. Congratulations.
Damia
Thank you very much for investing your time in showing us the wonderful work that you are doing here. Keep it up and all the best. We are very glad to have this visit, to see the people and to know more about the projects.

'I have learnt one of life's biggest lessons'

More wonderful comments from our visitors:

It was on top of our list to pay a visit to Mumbai Smiles during our tour around the world. Thank you so much for sharing this light (your work) with us. It illuminates everything and everybody. We also thank you for opening your doors welcoming us, to show us a small part of reality and humanity. You are like the small seeds that have grown into a tree bearing fruits. Congratulations for the work and the projects and we hope that you keep growing. We are taking with us a memorable experience in our small luggage of life. A warm hug.

I am very happy to visit the school. I came to know about this organisation through the book (Sonrisas de Bombay). I greatly admire your work and wish that you continue to do so in this manner. Congratulations and thank you for the visit.

It is a fantastic experience to see what great hearts and great will power can do. It is a unique feeling to see these children smile and it shows us that they are going to be excellent students. This major project is born thanks to the confidence given to us by Jaume and his team. I hope that this work never stops, because then it will be a great disappointment not only to you but also to us. Take care and I hope you have more smiles.

Today I have learnt one of the biggest lessons of life. There is so much energy and hope at the same time! Thanks a lot for sharing this unbelievable experience of life with us.
