World Red Cross Day

Last week, May 6, was World Red Cross Day and Red Crescent Day. In Barcelona, Spain, where Mumbai Smiles has an office, our team was present at the gathering to commemorate 150 years of this institution.

For this event, Mumbai Smiles made a presentation of black-and-white photographs taken by photographer Francesc Melcion that highlighted the living conditions of the poor in Mumbai. The idea behind this was to share our cause and our work with the entire Red Cross team and the general public.

There were speeches by Alexandra Haglund Petitbó, executive director of Mumbai Smiles in Spain (right), Dr Marquès, president of Catalonia Red Cross (centre), and photographer Melcion.

Our work continues to be appreciated throughout the world.
