Waiting for 'Roshni' in our lives

An initiative that we are very excited to flag off is what we're calling the 'Roshni' project.
We have been planning for a while to set aside space in our office to showcase the talent and craftwork of underprivileged women and we have found the perfect partner for this.

Creative Handicrafts is an organisation that has been working with slum women in Mumbai for over 25 years. The NGO trains women in stitching and embroidery, helps organise them in independent cooperatives, and works with them to make and sell a huge range of products, from dolls, household linen to trendy dresses and tops. Creative Handicrafts not only retails in India but also exports many of its products to France and Spain. It helps provide a livelihood to hundreds of women in Mumbai’s slums.

We are tying up with Creative Handicrafts, so that the beautiful items created by the women will soon be on display at our office in Marol, Mumbai. That way the hundreds of visitors who come to our office will have a chance to see this exhibition. We are calling our partnership with Creative Handicrafts the ‘Roshni Project’. Roshni means brightness or light in Hindi, which is what we hope this effort will bring into our lives and the lives of the women.

We'll keep you posted on when the exhibition space is ready and rolling. Until then, you can check out www.creativehandicrafts.org for more information.
